Before becoming a Clinical Nutritionist, I struggled for years with my own PCOS and hormone imbalance symptoms - irregular and missing periods, painful cystic acne, unwanted hair growth, bloating, recurrent candida infections, fatigue, and constant cravings.
I had lost my self confidence, felt totally alone, and had no idea what to do next. I was prescribed the pill to "fix my periods" (p.s. it does not do this), and told to "come back when you want to have babies, because you won't be able to fall pregnant naturally". I was nowhere near ready then to start a family but I felt devastated, and felt like my body was broken.
I turned to natural therapies because I wasn't getting the answers I wanted ("your tests are fine, you just have PCOS. There's nothing you can do"), and although (I thought) I was eating really healthy, I was still struggling with symptoms.
I healed my hormones, reversed my PCOS symptoms and fell pregnant naturally. But my journey didn't happen overnight.
I tried a lot of different things - gluten free, low carb, keto, dairy free, paleo. But it wasn't until I studied Nutritional Medicine that I finally discovered what *actually* works - an individualised holistic approach that addresses the root causes of my symptoms.
Which for me meant healing my gut, balancing blood sugar levels, managing stress (a BIG one!), and reducing environmental toxin exposure to support my liver and balance my hormones - all through making changes to my nutrition and lifestyle.
Finally my skin cleared, menstrual cycles returned and became regular, I found my confidence, and I finally had energy to do the things I love.
